Roma, 18 novembre 2022 – Lotta ai tumori (solidi ed ematologici) a 360 gradi, dalla prevenzione primaria a quella secondaria, sostegno alla ricerca e alla disponibilità dei farmaci innovativi, snellimento delle procedure per mettere a disposizione dei pazienti, nel più breve tempo possibile, nuove molecole una volta approvate dall’Ente Regolatorio Europeo (EMA), ritorno alla vita dopo la malattia, lotta alle disparità regionali e disponibilità di fondi adeguati contro le neoplasie. Sono i principali obiettivi dell’Intergruppo Parlamentare “Oncologia: Prevenzione Ricerca e Innovazione”, che nasce oggi. È il primo Intergruppo della XIX Legislatura dedicato ad ogni aspetto della lotta al cancro. “Ogni anno, in Italia, vengono diagnosticati circa 377mila nuovi casi di tumore e 30mila neoplasie del sangue – afferma la senatrice Tilde Minasi, Promotrice dell’Intergruppo ‘Oncologia: Prevenzione Ricerca e Innovazione’ -. L’alto livello dell’assistenza oncologica nel nostro Paese è evidenziato dalle percentuali di sopravvivenza a 5 anni, che raggiungono il 65% nelle donne e il 59% negli uomini. Inoltre, in sei anni (2015-2021), si è osservato un calo complessivo della mortalità per cancro del 10% negli uomini e dell’8% nelle donne. La pandemia ha però causato gravi ritardi nell’assistenza ai pazienti oncologici e nei programmi di prevenzione, che sono stati solo in parte recuperati”. A causa dell’emergenza pandemica, gli screening per il tumore della mammella, della cervice uterina e del colon retto hanno registrato una riduzione di due milioni e mezzo di esami nel 2020 rispetto al 2019. È dimostrato che il 40% dei casi di cancro e il 50% delle morti oncologiche possono essere evitati agendo su fattori di rischio prevenibili, in particolare sugli stili di vita (no a fumo, dieta corretta e attività fisica costante). Nel nostro Paese, però il 31,5% della popolazione non pratica alcuna attività sportiva, il 32,5% è in sovrappeso e il 10,4% è obeso.
“Lo scopo dell’Intergruppo Parlamentare è favorire, anche mediante interventi normativi, una nuova sensibilizzazione e attenzione verso gli stili di vita, gli screening e la disponibilità delle migliori terapie, a vantaggio dei cittadini, dei pazienti oncologici, delle associazioni e delle Società Scientifiche, che saranno coinvolte nelle attività dell’Intergruppo – afferma la senatrice Minasi -. Tra le finalità vi sono anche la promozione e il sostegno delle iniziative legislative e sociali, che focalizzino l’attenzione sugli aspetti di primaria importanza in oncologia, quali quelli che riguardano il settore sanitario, demografico, infrastrutturale e terziario. Vanno considerati anche i problemi concreti che pazienti e famigliari devono affrontare, dalla perdita della produttività alle difficoltà di reinserimento nel mondo del lavoro. L’Intergruppo vedrà l’adesione di un numero sempre maggiore di Senatori e Deputati di tutti gli schieramenti – conclude la senatrice – perché la lotta al cancro riguarda ciascuno di noi. Ma coinvolgerà anche i rappresentanti delle società scientifiche e delle associazioni dei pazienti in un ruolo attivo e determinante”.
