Rapporto ISS: “Continua a crescere in Italia il consumo di alcol”

Roma, 3 luglio 2020 – Prosegue nel nostro Paese la crescita del consumo di bevande alcoliche. Le persone che, nel 2018, hanno bevuto alcol lontano dai pasti sono state il 40,5% degli uomini e il 20,4% delle donne. In totale ammontano a quasi 16 milioni di cittadini sopra gli 11 anni e si tratta di un dato in aumento rispetto alle stime precedenti. E’ quanto rende noto il rapporto “Epidemiologia e monitoraggio alcol-correlato in Italia e nelle Regioni” elaborato dell’Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS). I valori massimi riguardano gli uomini nella fascia di età 18-44 anni e le donne della classe di età 18-24 anni. L’analisi del trend dei consumatori di vino o alcolici fuori pasto mostra che, per entrambi i generi, è aumentata la prevalenza dei consumatori rispetto al 2008 (M=+10,2%.; F=+38,0%) e per il genere femminile si conferma anche nel 2018 un incremento lineare costante rispetto al precedente anno (da 19,4% a 20,4%). Nel 2018, oltre 5 milioni di persone sopra gli 11 anni (il 14,2% degli uomini e il 6,1% delle donne) hanno dichiarato di aver abitualmente ecceduto nel consumo di bevande alcoliche. La percentuale, non diminuita rispetto agli anni precedenti, è più elevata per entrambi i sessi riguarda gli adolescenti di 16-17 anni e gli ultra 65enni. Al contrario, la percentuale più bassa riguarda la fascia 18-24 anni. “L’alcol – si legge nel report dell’Iss – è e resta un serio problema di salute in Italia; la prevenzione che manca va rafforzata richiedendo interventi urgenti, al momento non resi disponibili dai piani di prevenzione e comunque evidentemente sinora inefficaci se da anni non riescono a contrastare stili e modelli di consumo che causano costi sostanziali di cui si dovrebbe valutare congruo e opportuno abbattimento. I dati dimostrano ancora una volta che l’alcol è ancora uno tra i più temibili fattori di rischio e di malattia in Italia. Ai consumi medi pro-capite in ripresa non poteva non esserci il riscontro di un incremento della popolazione di consumatori a rischio e di binge drinker, indicatori della necessità di risposte di salute pubblica e dei servizi sanitari, di interventi sul marketing e sulla disponibilità delle bevande alcoliche più incisive, e anche i sistemi di monitoraggio relativi all’implementazione delle politiche in Italia mostrano essere tra le aree da rafforzare”.
