Roma, 15 settembre 2020 – “Il Covid-19 “sembra avere un carico diretto limitato sulla salute dei bambini, rappresentando circa l’8,5% dei casi segnalati a livello globale e pochissimi decessi. Al contrario, la chiusura delle scuole ha chiari impatti negativi sulla salute dei bambini, sulla loro istruzione e sul loro sviluppo, sul reddito familiare e sull’economia in generale”. E’ quanto sottolinea un recente documento dell’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (OMS). “I governi nazionali e locali – sottolinea l’OMS – dovrebbero considerare di dare la priorità alla continuità dell’istruzione investendo in misure complessive e su più livelli per prevenire l’introduzione e l’ulteriore diffusione della Sars-CoV-2 in contesti educativi, limitando anche la trasmissione più ampia nella comunità”. Il documento evidenzia le misure ‘chiave’ per ridurre al minimo i rischi legati alla riapertura: dalla capacità di test e tracciamento, al distanziamento di almeno un metro, abbinato a igiene delle mani e mascherine quando non si rispettano le distanze, fino al trasporto, al distanziamento fra i banchi e all’igiene a scuola. Quanto a chi e dove indossare le mascherine, il documento sottolinea che sotto i 5 anni i bambini non dovrebbero metterle, mentre tra 6-11 anni occorre valutare il rischio e l’intensità della trasmissione nell’area in questione. Dai 12 anni in poi le linee guida da seguire sono quelle degli adulti. Il documento sottolinea inoltre più volte l’importanza del distanziamento di almeno un metro in tutta la scuola, dalle aule ai corridoi, ricordando anche che l’igiene delle mani e dei luoghi riveste un ruolo importante nella prevenzione del contagio a scuola. Altro elemento ‘chiave’: la ventilazione. Gli esperti rinviano alle indicazioni apposite, invitando a sfruttare l’areazione naturale (“aprire le finestre quando è possibile e sicuro”) per cambiare l’aria degli ambienti e ispezionare regolarmente i sistemi di ventilazione artificiale, assicurandone la polizia. Quanto all’igiene, si invita a dedicare specifici momenti al lavaggio regolare delle mani in classe e a prevedere una pulizia regolare e ripetuta delle superfici. Distanziamento, pulizia e finestrini aperti sugli scuola bus, rinforzando negli istituti scolastici la politica dello ‘stai a casa se non stai bene’, sono fra i suggerimenti degli esperti dell’Oms, che invitano a controllare la febbre ogni giorno prima dell’ingresso a scuola di insegnanti, studenti, staff e visitatori.
