Roma, 12 settembre 2019 – Dalle differenze reddituali, passando per le condizioni di vita fino all’accesso ai servizi, al lavoro e al livello d’istruzione. Sono questi i cinque fattori chiave di rischio che trattengono molti bambini, giovani, donne e uomini dal raggiungimento di una buona salute e dal condurre una vita sicura e dignitosa. È quanto emerge dal primo rapporto sullo stato delle equità sanitarie dell’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (OMS). Il report evidenzia come le disuguaglianze sanitarie in molti dei 53 paesi nella regione europea dell’OMS rimangono le stesse o sono peggiorate nonostante i tentativi dei governi di affrontarle. “Per la prima volta, il Rapporto sullo stato delle equità sanitarie fornisce ai governi i dati e gli strumenti di cui hanno bisogno per affrontare le disuguaglianze sanitarie e produrre risultati visibili in un periodo di tempo relativamente breve, anche entro la durata di un governo nazionale di quattro anni” afferma Dr. Zsuzsanna Jakab, Direttore regionale dell’OMS per l’Europa. Secondo il Rapporto “la gamma di politiche delineate nel Rapporto stimola sia lo sviluppo sostenibile che la crescita economica. Ridurre le disuguaglianze del 50% produrrebbe benefici finanziari per i paesi che vanno dallo 0,3% al 4,3% del prodotto interno lordo (PIL), secondo il Rapporto”. Il documento evidenzia inoltre come l’impatto delle politiche per far fronte a questi rischi negli ultimi 10-15 anni. E si è scoperto che molti dei fattori critici che guidano le disuguaglianze sanitarie non vengono sufficientemente affrontati dai paesi della Regione Europea. Ad esempio, mentre il 29% delle disuguaglianze sanitarie derivano da condizioni di vita precarie, il 53% dei paesi della Regione ha disinvestito in alloggi e servizi alla comunità negli ultimi 15 anni.
