Roma, 17 settembre 2020 – Spetta alle regioni del Nord il primato di residenti che usano la bicicletta o vanno a piedi per i propri spostamenti abituali in alternativa all’uso di veicoli a motore. Lo affermano i dati del Sistema di Sorveglianza Passi coordinato dall’Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS). La survey è stata condotta su un campione di popolazione tra 18 e 69 anni. Complessivamente il 44% delle persone intervistate pratica mobilità attiva, e dichiara di aver usato la bicicletta e/o di essersi spostato a piedi per andare a lavoro, a scuola o per gli spostamenti quotidiani nel mese precedente l’intervista. Il 21% degli intervistati risulta fisicamente attivo con la pratica della mobilità attiva perché per i propri spostamenti abituali in bicicletta o a piedi raggiunge i livelli di attività fisica raccomandati dall’Oms di almeno 150 minuti a settimana di attività moderata; il 22% risulta parzialmente attivo per mobilità attiva praticata perché si sposta a piedi o in bicicletta ma lo fa per meno di 150 minuti a settimana; il restante 56% della popolazione si sposta con veicoli a motore (privati o pubblici) senza o con trascurabili tragitti a piedi o in bicicletta. “Oltre che vantaggiosa per l’ambiente, la mobilità attiva offre la possibilità di raggiungere i livelli di attività fisica raccomandati dall’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (OMS) e avere benefici sulla salute”. Per quanto riguarda i dati regionali l’uso della bici è maggiore nella provincia di Bolzano (il 26,6% degli intervistati la usa regolarmente), seguita da Veneto ed Emilia Romagna. I principali ‘camminatori’ sono invece i liguri (58,5%), i sardi e gli abitanti della provincia di Trento.
