Roma, 3 agosto 2023 – “Accogliamo con estrema soddisfazione l’approvazione, da parte della Camera dei Deputati, della nuova legge sull’oblio oncologico. Siamo davvero ad un passo dall’introduzione, anche in Italia, di norme innovative a tutela degli ex pazienti”. E’ questo il commento del prof. Francesco Cognetti, Presidente FOCE (Federazione degli oncologi, cardiologi e ematologi) dopo il recente via libera di Montecitorio al testo unificato. “Ringraziamo la Premier Giorgia Meloni, per avere accolto immediatamente l’appello di FOCE, e tutti i parlamentari per essersi impegnati nell’iter brevissimo di approvazione del provvedimento – aggiunge Cognetti -. Finalmente il nostro Paese si allinea a livello legislativo, ad altre importanti nazioni europee nelle quali da tempo vi sono norme a garanzia per tutti coloro che sono riusciti a sconfiggere il cancro. La nuova legge fotografa l’attuale realtà socio-sanitaria riscontrabile in Italia. Grazie all’ottima qualità della nostra oncologia medica, alla costante innovazione medico-scientifica, a efficienti campagne di prevenzione siamo riusciti ad ottenere tassi di guarigione davvero notevoli per diverse patologie oncologiche. Da qui l’esigenza, non più rinviabile, di garantire agli ex malati diritti fondamentali come quello di poter accedere a mutui e finanziamenti oppure all’adozione di un figlio”. “Il nostro auspicio è che adesso la legge venga approvata quanto prima anche dal Senato – conclude il Presidente di FOCE -. Chiediamo infine alle Istituzioni di non abbassare la guardia nei confronti della lotta al cancro che deve rimanere una delle priorità della nostra sanità. Registriamo infatti ottimi tassi di sopravvivenza e guarigione clinica ed è giusto che uomini e donne che presentano la stessa aspettativa di vita del resto della popolazione abbiano i medesimi diritti. Al tempo stesso il numero di nuovi casi di tumore l’anno risulta in costante aumento in Italia. Dunque il cancro non è più un male incurabile ma un gruppo eterogeneo di patologie, più o meno insidiose. C’è bisogno dell’impegno di tutti per riuscire a sconfiggerle definitivamente”.
