Roma, 9 aprile 2020 – Con l’emergenza coronavirus più di un italiano su due (il 54%) ha dovuto rinunciare, sospendere o posticipare cure e terapie mediche e fisioterapiche, non legate al virus, che stava seguendo o che doveva iniziare prima che esplodesse la pandemia. E’ quanto emerge dall’indagine Uecoop/Ixè sugli effetti che l’emergenza ha provocato nell’ultimo mese ai livelli di assistenza. Fra le persone colpite dal blocco delle prestazioni, spiega l’Unione Europea delle cooperative, il 42% ha dovuto rinviare o cancellare visite mediche per altre patologie, mentre la restante parte ha visto slittare esami medici, terapie e cure. “L’emergenza della guerra al coronavirus – si legge nell’indagine Uecoop – ha assorbito la maggior parte delle risorse e del personale medico e infermieristico pubblico e privato mobilitato per reggere il grande fronte del nord Italia e i focolai locali, più o meno estesi, che si sono creati lungo la dorsale appenninica dalle Marche al Lazio, dalla Toscana alla Puglia, dalla Campania alla Calabria fino alla Sicilia”. Per Uecoop, su oltre un milione di addetti del mondo cooperativo, quasi 600mila sono schierati sul fronte dell’emergenza coronavirus, con circa la metà impegnata direttamente nella cura di disabili e anziani, “spesso senza le adeguate protezioni anti contagio utili per proteggere se stessi e le persone da assistere fra cui i 300mila nonni ricoverati nelle oltre 7mila case di riposo italiane”. “La situazione è molto pesante e costringe ormai a lavorare in condizioni estreme – denuncia Uecoop – anche per le difficoltà a recuperare mascherine e indumenti protettivi per il personale delle Rsa”.
