Roma, 6 febbraio 2020 – “L’inattività fisica determina fino al 20% dei casi di cancro pari a più di 74mila nuove diagnosi l’anno solo in Italia”. E’ quanto ha affermato il prof. Francesco Cognetti, Presidente di Insieme Contro il Cancro, stamattina durante un convegno al CONI. “Una revisione di nove studi ha dimostrato, per la prima volta, che l’esercizio fisico, nelle dosi raccomandate dall’OMS, è associato a un rischio inferiore e statisticamente significativo di sviluppare 7 dei 15 tipi di cancro studiati – ha proseguito Cognetti -. La riduzione aumenta con il crescere dell’attività: il tumore al colon (rischio minore dell’8%-14% negli uomini), al seno (rischio minore del 6%-10%), all’endometrio (rischio minore del 10%-18%), al rene (rischio minore dell’11%-17%), il mieloma (rischio minore del 14%-19%), il tumore al fegato (rischio minore del 18%-27%) e il linfoma non-Hodgkin (rischio minore dell’11%-18% nelle donne)”. “Lo sport esercita effetti preventivi e terapeutici e può essere paragonato a un farmaco che, opportunamente somministrato, previene gravi malattie come i tumori e ne impedisce lo sviluppo, garantendo considerevoli vantaggi sia ai cittadini che al sistema sanitario” ha concluso il prof. Cognetti.
